“Charlestown was Charlestown before Boston was rid of the British.”

Path

Establish a non-profit corporation (officers and board members now in place with the Massachusetts Secretary of State),

  • Form a study committee to take first steps,

  • Solicit pro bono legal support from the American Battlefield Trust’s Protection Program,

  • Partner with the National Park Service, the Bunker Hill Monument Association and multiple other community resources and individuals,

  • Obtain grants from governmental and charitable agencies, and

  • Initiate, and guide to enactment, legislation to establish a Charlestown Historic Landmarks Commission.

  • Declare our neighborhood a Charlestown Battlefield District by June 17, 2025, when the eyes of the nation are focused on the Bunker Hill Battle’s milestone 250th anniversary,

  • Honor America’s treasured veterans, past and present, with a comprehensive, captivating battlefield walking trail,

  • Create and put in place attractive battle site and other historic markers to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places and included in the Historical Markers and War Memorials of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,

  • Successfully petition the city of Boston for archaeological reconnaissance studies for highly sensitive sites before any new developments are granted permits, and

  • Successfully petition the city for the lawfully required historic land use reports that are required to be submitted for public review, and

  • Have the voice we residents of Charlestown are entitled to in determining the future of our community.
